To be able to offer admissions, financial aid and a component of the business office literally within steps of each other in a single building allows Gordon State College to do just that," said GSC President Kirk A. Nooks.

The 11,271 square-foot building features desktop and laptop computer stations, a waiting room for parents and a meeting room that can accommodate seating for 60 or used for events that require open space. Sliding glass partitions offer privacy while still allowing natural light and an open feel.

“The facilities team has worked diligently with JMA Architecture out of Perry, GA and Benning Construction Company in Atlanta for a one-stop shop for Gordon State College students,” said Reggie Hamm, Director of Facilities.

GSC Vice President of Finance and Administration, Megan Davidson said, “We are honored and pleased to receive this award. “This project was a success because of the great work from the Facilities team at GSC led by Richard Vereen and Reggie Hamm. Their inspirational vision led to the creation of a space that allows for one central location for the primary needs of student enrollment.

“We would also like to thank our partners that tirelessly worked to ensure this project was a success including Jim Mehserle from JMA Architecture, Ted Benning from Benning Construction Company, Mark Milam from Impact Office Furniture and Samson Oyegunle and Ms. Sharon Pope from the University System of Georgia Board of Regents Design and Construction.”

The USG’s annual Facilities Officers Conference serves as a professional development opportunity for USG real estate and facilities officers. Focused on all aspects of facility management, the conference’s educational sessions and activities encourage discussion between institutions and industry partners on best practices and trends in higher education.
